What to know before reading the list

Three things make this list a little unusual:

• The numbering. The set is 128 cards; numbers above 128 (131, 136, 157…) are the secret rares, scarcer than the printed number suggests.
• The new rarity. 30th Celebration introduces the Futuristic Rare, reserved for the flagship secret cards — for now Mewtwo ex and Mew ex.
• Promos and the Classic Collection. Alongside the numbered set come the MEP promo cards (in the boxes) and a Classic Collection pack of reprints. Those are covered in our 30th anniversary product tour, not in this table — so a set card is never confused with a same-name promo.

Secret rares (above 128)

The secrets are the real hunting ground. Six illustration rares and two Futuristic Rares are confirmed:

Mewtwo ex and Mew ex close the list and embody the anniversary theme: the Kanto duo that launched the game in 1996. These are the cards to chase if you open for hits rather than the full set.

The chase card: the reprinted Base Set Charizard

Beyond the numbered set, the Classic Collection pack reprints iconic cards from the game’s history — Base Set Charizard first among them, with its 1999 artwork. It’s the card everyone talks about — but note: a 2026 reprint and a 1999 original are two different cards, on two different markets. What about the 30 Pikachu illustrations?

Every booster in the set contains one of 30 unique Pikachu illustrations made for the anniversary. They don’t all carry a standard set number and are treated as a sub-collection of their own — enough to keep Pikachu hunters busy long after release.
